We’re heading back into the Halle Archives for Throwback Thursday! Join us as we delve into history to see what gems are in store...

On this day back in 1899, you could have received this letter inviting you to be one of the first members of the newly established Hallé Concerts Society. The letter reads:

The registration of this society having now been completed, we send you formal notice of the Statutory General Meeting. This is solely called to formally comply with the provisions of the Companies Acts.

We also send for your signature form of acceptance of membership as one of the first members of the society, and shall be obliged by your returning the same to us in due course signed and completed.

If you desire it we shall be pleased to forward your copy of the Articles of Association of the Society on having your request to do so.”
