Two of Sibelius’s most atmospheric works bookend this enterprising programme: the nationalistic fervour of his Karelia Suite and the rugged beauty of his last symphony. Beethoven’s rarely performed Triple Concerto provides an outstanding opportunity to hear three world-class soloists in a work of unexpected twists and turns and closing with a bravura finale. Completing the evening is a work by one of Sweden’s most exciting young composers. You can be sure Andrea Tarrodi’s Paradisfåglar II will leave a vivid impression.

We are very sorry to announce that Nicola Benedetti will be unable to perform as part of the Beethoven Triple Concerto this Friday, as a result of illness. The Hallé is very grateful to Hyeyoon Park for stepping in at short notice.

Hyeyoon, who will join Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Benjamin Grosvenor for the Triple Concerto, has been described as an artist of outstanding virtuosity, combining effortlessly rich sonority with musical integrity.

We are pleased that the programme remains the same and look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be an exceptional concert.
