Hear Stravinsky’s breakthrough ballet music and Liszt’s sumptuous melodies, alongside Beethoven’s greatest piano concerto. 

Principal Conductor & Artistic Advisor Kahchun Wong and the Hallé return to Nottingham for an unmissable opening night. The concert begins with Liszt’s Les preludes which, after a tentative opening, erupts into a sumptuous melody.  

For many Beethoven fans, his ‘Emperor’ Concerto is the best – its second movement is pure, dreamy perfection. Stephen Hough sets it aglow before carrying us into its joyful finale.  

We round off the evening with Stravinsky. His first commission by the legendary Ballet Russes, The Firebird, propelled him to international stardom. This evocative work introduced 1910s Paris to his homeland’s snow-fresh fairy stories.
