The Hallé Youth Training Choir is for promising young singers aged 13-15 who want to develop their musical and vocal skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

The choir offers promising young singers aged 13-15 (academic years 9-11) a chance to develop their musicianship in a non-pressured training environment, allowing time for their voices to change naturally whilst still learning and rehearsing. Members study a selection of repertoire designed to support their musical and singing development throughout the year.

The choir regularly appears in the Hallé’s Christmas concert series and the Youth Ensembles Celebration concert, and frequently receives invitations to perform across Greater Manchester throughout the season. Highlights of the 2024-25 season include an invitation to perform as the BBC Children in Need choir for the live BBC broadcast, and a performance at the Mcr:Classical festival in June.

Each summer the choir enjoys a residential weekend, giving a chance for focused music-making, team activities and lots of laughter.
