From time to time, the Hallé abandons its familiar concert hall environment and sets out to perform to children in their own communities. Selected partner schools are given the unique opportunity to experience the full force of a world-class symphony orchestra in their own school hall.

Under the leadership of its Music Director, Sir Mark Elder, the Hallé spends a day at a high school performing to pupils at the school and from local primaries. The concerts introduce the different instruments of the orchestra, showing how their individual qualities blend to create a vast ‘colour palette’ and feature works from the standard orchestral repertoire. Some lucky individuals may even get the once in a lifetime chance to conduct the Hallé! The concerts help to promote instrumental playing and support the National Curriculum for music and are delivered in partnership with our Music Education Hub partners.
