Hallé Choral Academy

The Hallé Choral Academy is a repertoire-led choral training programme that will introduce you to some inspiring choral repertoire, develop your singing skills, and increase your confidence in both singing and music-reading.

Come and sing with the Hallé! Everyone (18+) is welcome, no prior experience is necessary and all music scores are provided.

This is a stand alone project, but is also an opportunity to explore the work before our annual Sing with the Hallé day – a glorious, fun, life-affirming chance to sing with hundreds of other enthusiasts, with the Hallé Orchestra, at the beautiful Bridgewater Hall.

Project 1 - Puccini 'Messa di Gloria' (Autumn 2025)

Join our wonderful Choral Academy Director, Joe Judge, and fun accompanist, Mackenzie Paget, as we get to grips with some of the delights of Puccini’s ‘Messa di Gloria.’

This is a stand-alone project across 4 days. Whether you have no experience of classical choral singing, or you’d just like to improve your existing skills, Joe and Mackenzie will guide you helpfully, with a few laughs guaranteed along the way!

Whether you have no experience of classical choral singing, or you’d just like to improve your existing skills, Joe and Mackenzie will guide you helpfully, with a few laughs guaranteed along the way!

How do I register?

Follow the booking link to our Eventbrite webpage and purchase one e-ticket at £60 per person.

Then just turn up on the day!

Do I need to have sung in a choir before?

No prior experience is required – come along and join the fun!

Do I need to be able to read sheet music?

No prior experience is required, but please be aware that we will be working from sheet music in the sessions – with as much support as necessary for you to join in.

Do I need to audition?

There is no audition, the Hallé Choral Academy is open to all aged 18+.

What should I bring to the sessions?

Just bring yourself, a pencil and a bottle of water. Refreshments will be available to purchase on the day or you are welcome to bring your own.
