We’re heading back into the Halle Archives for Throwback Thursday! Join us as we delve into history to see what gems are in store...

Tonight we’ll be taking to the Bridgewater Hall stage with our Music Director, Sir Mark Elder, to perform Rossini’s Stabat Mater.

The first performance we ever gave of Stabat Mater was 159 years ago in March 1864, with our founder, Sir Charles Hallé conducting. The piece was the last concert in the Sixth concert season, and also included Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise.
