On this day in 1963, we were performing the finale night of our Summer Proms series at the Free Trade Hall.

Conducting the orchestra was George Weldon, with Martin Milner playing Principal Violin. The programme included classic prom music such as Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance No.1 and Henry Wood’s Fantasia on British Sea Songs, alongside crowd favourites, The Planets and Peer Gynt Suite.
