The Annual Hallé Ball was a staple in the calendar for years. From the 1950s to the 1970s this fundraising knees up included dancing, performance, banquets and more. On the second of January 1953, the Ball included entertainment by dance bands, supper and “carriages at 2am”, and in 1978 the second of January saw the orchestra entertained by the Tommy Whitefood dance band at Belle Vue.
