Huge thanks to volunteers who came today to help in cleaning, sorting and tidying the Hallé's archive - an exceptional collection of documents related to the Hallé 165-year history of making music in Manchester and around the world.

To mark The King’s Coronation, thousands of organisations across the country are getting together to give us all the chance to help out in our own local communities as part of the Big Help Out.

This event is part of the Ancoats: The Hallé Story heritage project. A two-year project that will increase access to the Hallé’s extensive, world-class archive, engaging a wider range of the public with the organisation’s heritage. This project has been made possible by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
