All of us at the Hallé were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Jean Oglesby. Jean was a generous supporter and friend to the Hallé for so many years particularly with the Hallé Youth Orchestra and String Leadership programme.

Above all, her support was pivotal in creating our rehearsal and education centre at Hallé St Peter’s in Ancoats as well as enabling the later three-storey extension, the award-winning Oglesby Centre opened in 2019.

We will forever be grateful for Jean’s inspiration and support and will miss her presence at our concerts and events. All of us at the Hallé send our condolences to the family at this sad time.
