All at the Hallé were deeply saddened to hear of the death of Sir Howard Bernstein.

Sir Howard worked for Manchester City Council for 46 years, serving as chief executive between 1998 and 2017. He played a pivotal role in the regeneration and economic growth of the city, and his vision and leadership has had a huge impact on Manchester as we know it today.

We will always be grateful for his support, and his commitment to the work of the Hallé. Our thoughts are with Sir Howard’s family and friends at this time.
