Legacy

• Consult your bank or appoint a solicitor to draw up your will for you
• Work out what you own and how much it is worth; including your house, possessions, insurance policies and any shares or investments
• Decide who you want to benefit from your will
• Choose as executors between one and four people from your family, close friends or professional advisers
• Make sure that your will is kept securely and that your executors know where to find it
• If you choose to draw up a will yourself or use one of the forms available from stationers, your will must be signed by two independent witnesses present at the same
  time as you sign it, who are not beneficiaries

• The Hallé Concerts Society maintains and supports the day to day work of the Orchestra and family of ensembles, gifts to the Concerts Society go straight to the heart of our work, enabling us to maintain artistic excellence, perform and promote our concerts and reach out to our audience
• The Charles Hallé Foundation is a specific fund that supports the ‘off the platform’ work of the Hallé: the education and community programme; recordings; tours and the development of the Youth Ensembles
• The Hallé Endowment Trust is a capital fund that provides an income each year to the Hallé Concerts Society. Sums left to this Trust are kept in perpetuity to provide this
  income – the capital itself cannot be spent

• If you die without making a will (intestate) this could mean that you lose control over your estate and it may not go where you would have wished. Your choice is taken away
  and government legislation could decide what should happen to your money and property
• By making a will, you decide which people and organisations you would like to benefit and you ensure that your money will be used exactly as you wish

If your estate is liable for inheritance tax then any charitable gifts in your will are exempt from tax and reduce the total tax payable on your estate

No, we fully understand that it is a private matter. However, if you wish to inform us we can discuss whether you would like us to keep in touch with you – for example by sending you copies of the Hallé newsletter, and by inviting you to the Vera Clegg Memorial Concert each year. You may also be interested in our Gifts for the Future scheme, enabling you to become part of our family of supporters by joining us at Patron events

It will depend which of the Hallé charities you leave it to, but it will support:

• The Orchestra
• The Choir
• The Youth Orchestra
• The Youth and Youth Training Choirs
• The Children’s Choir
• The Education and Community programme
• Hallé St Peter’s

It is not possible to have a memorial in The Bridgewater Hall. We do record the names of those from whom we have received gifts in wills in the concert programme for the annual Vera Clegg Memorial Concert. It is also possible to endow orchestral chairs in memory

A donation to the Hallé is a wonderful way to remember and honour a member of your family or a friend who loved music. In memory donations make a valuable contribution to the ongoing
work of the Hallé and can be a fitting tribute to a loved one
