Everyone at the Hallé is deeply saddened to learn of the death of John East. John was a distinguished senior manager with the chemicals company BASF and was Chair of the Hallé Board from January 1997 to December 1998, steering the orchestra through one of its most challenging periods. He is most fondly remembered by those that knew him, and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
