Hallé Choral Academy

The Hallé Choral Academy is a repertoire-led choral training programme that will introduce you to some inspiring choral repertoire, develop your singing skills, and increase your confidence in both singing and music-reading.

Come and sing with the Hallé! Everyone (18+) is welcome, no prior experience is necessary and all music scores are provided.

Following on from the success of our Vivaldi project in October, we are delighted to be exploring some excerpts from Handel’s Messiah, and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols, to get you in the mood for the festive season!

2024-25 Projects

Project 1 - Vivaldi Gloria (Autumn 2024)

Sessions will start with a workshop day 10am-3pm on Saturday 5th October 2024.

Mon 21 Oct, 7-9pm (which will also include an informal performance for friends and family)

Sessions will take place in Hallé St Peter’s and Hallé St Michael’s, led by Choral Academy Director, Joseph Judge.

Tickets for the entire project cost £60 including VAT and Eventbrite charges, and include all sessions, sheet music copies and the informal performance for family and friends.

Project 2 - Choruses from Messiah, and RVW Fantasia on Christmas Carols (Winter 2024)

The Hallé Choral Academy offers stand-alone, repertoire-led choral training projects that will introduce you to some inspiring choral repertoire, develop your singing skills, and increase your confidence in both singing and music-reading.

How do I register?

Follow the booking link to our Eventbrite webpage and purchase one e-ticket at £60 per person.

Then just turn up on the day!

Do I need to have sung in a choir before?

No prior experience is required – come along and join the fun!

Do I need to be able to read sheet music?

No prior experience is required, but please be aware that we will be working from sheet music in the sessions – with as much support as necessary for you to join in.

Do I need to audition?

There is no audition, the Hallé Choral Academy is open to all aged 18+.

What should I bring to the sessions?

Just bring yourself, a pencil and a bottle of water. Refreshments will be available to purchase on the day or you are welcome to bring your own.
