Hallé St Peter’s welcomes the Klezmorim of Manchester for a toe-tapping evening of distinctive Klezmer and classical music arrangements, alongside a traditional klezmer dance.

This welcome return of the klezmer evening to Hallé St Peter’s brings together musicians and dancers from the Hallé and the Klezmorim of Manchester for an evening of optional participatory dance led by local klezmer dance leaders, musical interludes from the traditional klezmer tradition and freshly arranged klezmer-classical crossover pieces. This is an opportunity to put your left and right foot into the world of klezmer, the inter-generational musical and dance cultures of the Jewish communities of Eastern Europe. Try out a dance or two, or simply sit back and listen to the rich crossover of musical tradition.

KoM are joined by the Hallé’s very own violist Chris Emerson, who has worked with the students from the UoM Klezmer Ensemble over the years to develop their performance skills and enhance musicianship. Also joining us will be local dance band leaders Judith Plowman and Adrian Dobson to bring you an immersive klezmer dance experience.

This event is supported by the University of Manchester Humanities Strategic Civic Engagement Fund.

Both at Hallé St Peter’s. There is also the opportunity to have a dance lesson before the main event, should you wish to learn some dance steps.

• Dance ticket only (7pm-9pm) £10 per person *
• Dance ticket with lesson included (6pm-6.45pm) – £15 per person*

*Refreshments included in the ticket price (generously provided by Brackmans Bakery)

Whilst we recommend pre-booking your tickets, there will be a small number of tickets available on the door. Please arrive in good time to buy your tickets. We accept both cash and card.
